José Dolores Rivera entered the field as a master carpenter and a trained wood carver. He apprenticed to William Cumpiano, internationally renowned guitar maker and master carver Dimitrios Klitsas. Mr. Rivera gained valuable knowledge from Carlos R. Guzman on the design of pick ups, bobbins and more.
The instruments designed by José are the result of his love for wood, music and his dedication to detail. Mr. Rivera’s commitment to making the finest instruments goes back to his lifetime love of making string instruments and the folklore of his home island of Puerto Rico.
